Hi friends!
We’re getting lots of good feedback about this new Substack thing, and I love writing, so that’s a win win! Glad you’re here. In today’s edition:
Details on tomorrow’s live SCCM hacking demo
Update on (potential) in-person meeting of 7MinSec Club
Playing with PeerTube (YouTube “alternative”)
A great, gooey movie recommendation for you
Live SCCM hacking tomorrow at 1 p.m. CST
Please join us on YouTube or Twitch tomorrow at 1 p.m. CST as we hack away on GOAD SCCM, which I’ve got running on Ludus.cloud, my favorite pentest playground that I talked about on episode #660 and #661. I’ll cover some attacks from both a non-auth’d and low-priv perspective. These are attacks that have already gotten me some great pwnage on pentests! See you there. If you miss any of our third Thursday livestreams, the whole schedule with links to each video are here.
Update on in-person 7MinSec Club meeting
I’m currently looking to secure some meeting space the evening of Wednesday, May 14. I don’t know exact timing yet as I’m not sure when the conference wraps for the day. I’m thinking of starting around 6 p.m. and providing food/beverages. Reach out if you’re interested in one or more of the following so I can gauge interest:
Coming to the event
Speaking at it
Sponsoring it (to cover food/beverages and room rental)
Playing with PeerTube
Have you played with PeerTube? Some folks on Mastodon were talking about it, and once I started Googling it and watching YouTube videos about it, I feel like everybody has known about it for a while and didn’t tell me :-). In short, it’s not trying to be a YouTube competitor, but rather an alternative. For reasons I won’t blabber on about right now, I’m warming up to the idea of continuing to build a community with more control over content, less invasive privacy defaults, and fewer (if any) ads.
So, just for grins I spun up a PeerTube instance here: https://tv.7minsec.com/. I made a video about changing Proxmox config from static to DHCP (it has always annoyed me you can’t do this in the GUI), and also uploaded an old Vulnhub CTF video simply to test out PeerTube. Maybe I’ll put new videos here first in the future, and then on YouTube sometime later. Give it a poke and let me know what you think. I like the idea of having PeerTube always having a master copy of my videos without ads, and if any hacking walkthroughs ever got taken down on YouTube, it’s comforting to know a master copy would always be on PeerTube. What do you think?
Movie review: The Substance
Over on my personal blog I wrote a movie review of The Substance. Holy cow, it is completely bonkers - yet I mean that in the best way. I knew nothing about it going in, so I kept my review kind of vague in case you’re in the same situation. Definitely not a family program, but I think it will definitely hold your attention. You won’t be bored.
Have a blessed week!
