Following up on last week’s episode, I wanted to let you know I wrote a quick install guide for self-hosted Bitwarden. It will get you up and running in about 7 minutes! The main things to remember:
Switch to the bitwarden user before you fire the install script
Setup SMTP switches in the main config file, register yourself (and/or your team), and then flip a flag in the config file to disable public registrations (if you don’t want random folks registering for an account)
The install guide makes it easy to update the instance. I’m going to setup a cron job to run the update every night, as Claude tells me Bitwarden has had a few eyebrow-raising vulns in the past
Comments/questions/insults for me?
